![]() ![]() did some grim dark stuff leaving their child behind taking over and twisting the culture with more norse made elements) but I didn't the DRUIDS would be the blood thirsty ones. Ok, so I find the druid part in a NORSE esc culture strange, considering that they cultures druids and Vikings come from are basically mortal enemies IRL (minus the vikings that came and um. There’s everything from Viking-esque cultures in the frozen north filled with Druidic cults trying to resurrect primordials, or spill enough blood to keep them asleep. Geography and culture: There are many varied cultures and aspects to the geographies.Others it is part of everyday life and everyone has access to a few cantrips at least like prestidigitation or produce flame. Some areas are massively biased against magic and are kill on sight for it. I run the setting at all those magic levels actually. A newbie can run it if they can run regular 5e.Ĩ. ![]() What you decide to add is up to you, I have added a few ancient chromatic dragons, along with a couple metallics, but they aren’t in the guide.ħ. I go really dark in some aspects, like the plagues and starvation in some areas. Maybe throw some Dishonored and Senua’s Sacrifice in there. Personally, I think it is a mix of Witcher and Dark Souls, but I run pretty brutally in combat, but focus mainly on social aspects. Comparing it to video games you’ll likely get a lot of different answers, as that totally depends on how the game is run. It adds things like a vermin lord ranger, plague doctor cleric, sangromancer wizard, and a lot more.Ħ. I don’t think there are any totally new classes, but a lot of the new subclasses(20ish I think) are VERY unique and are fun. It makes all of the aforementioned afflictions VERY interesting and not just a stat block in the PHB.ĥ. Honestly, they are a big part of why people love GH so much, myself included. They flesh out transformations with abilities and flavor such as the vampires, lycanthropes, seraphs, fiends, aberrant horrors, fey, and lich. The biggest new mechanics added are the transformations, which you have likely heard of. All normal races exist, plus some more really cool ones with the new players guide coming next week!Ĥ. There’s a more lot to it, but to get to the meat of it their Arch Seraphs(think archangels) took their place in semi divinity.ģ. There’s everything from Viking-esque cultures in the frozen north filled with Druidic cults trying to resurrect primordials, or spill enough blood to keep them asleep.Ģ. Geography and culture: There are many varied cultures and aspects to the geographies. I’ll try and go through and give a quick answer on most of them, and you can let me know if you need anything expanded.ġ. ![]() Is this a HIGH, MID, or LOW fantasy setting? How much abundance of magic is there in the world? Are spell casters common, uncommon, or rare? What mechanics are added? How easy is it to run? Can a newbie run it? What is the lore of the world? What type ofagic exists? Does psionics exist in some form as a pure psionic class? (I don't really like nor care for the psionic touched/flavored classes like the aberrant mind sorcerer)ĭo god exists but it's more so in subtle "soft magic" indirect ways that people attribute to them? Of gods exist, who are they? Do the fiends (devils & demons), celestials, their outer planes, and other things exist? Does the shadow fell & fey wild exist? ![]() When comping this to video games, would this be more like bloodborne meets nior, thus not alot of medieval fantasy creatures and such, and strong usage of guns? Or is it more like demon/dark souls meets béowúlf (tone, not themes of Anglo-saxon & norse stuff) meets witcher (games), thus not really having modern/renaissance era stuff, and not really a whole lot to none motif with guns, and having fantasy creatures like unicorns and dragons? What new mechanics are added? Are any completely NEW classes added that are NOT sib classes? If so, what? What races exist in this world? Do dragons exist? If so, how and to what capacity? What is the world it's set in terms of geography and culture? All I understand is that there are now gods like dark sun? What do druids and clerics do then? Do they even exist? So I heard alot about the kickstarter from practically everyone involved with d&d (even some people I don't have good terms with) and wanted to understand, outside of the obvious adding classes and adding new items, and non combat mechanics, what is grim hollow like? I think I may want to get into a more gritty fantasy thing ![]()
